| Premium Solid Ash Material | Sustainably sourced, select-grade solid ash with consistent grain patterns and minimal natural defects. Ash’s high density and excellent bending properties make it ideal for steam forming, offering superior strength and dimensional stability compared to softer woods. |
| Traditional Steam-Bending Craftsmanship | Formed using precision-controlled steam bending (Thonet method), the ash blank is softened, shaped to a custom mold, and cured to lock in the ergonomic curve permanently. No laminations, adhesives, or joins—ensuring a fully monolithic, natural wood construction. |
| Ergonomic, Stable Profile | The smooth, flowing U-shape maintains its precise form long-term, with zero risk of springback or warping when properly finished. Tight manufacturing tolerances ensure consistency across all pieces, critical for production-scale furniture lines. |
| Finish-Ready Unfinished Surface | Multi-stage sanded to a smooth, burr-free finish with clean, square-cut ends. The raw ash surface is fully prepared for staining, oiling, varnishing, or painting to match your desired aesthetic—whether natural, mid-century, or modern. |
| Versatile Cross-Section | A sturdy 8.6 × 2.7 cm cross-section balances strength and versatility, making it suitable for structural furniture components that require both durability and a sleek, refined profile. |
Only fully seasoned solid ash (8–10% moisture content) is selected, ensuring the timber is stable and free of defects that could compromise the bending process. Blanks are precision-cut to length and inspected for grain orientation, prioritizing straight grain for optimal formability.
The ash blank is exposed to high-pressure, superheated steam in a sealed chamber, softening the wood’s lignin and cellulose fibers to make the material pliable without damaging its structural integrity. This step is critical for preventing fiber breakage during forming.
The softened timber is immediately transferred to a custom steel mold, where it is clamped into the ergonomic U-shape. Held under tension, the component is cured in a controlled drying environment to lock in the curve permanently, eliminating the risk of springback over time.
After demolding, the piece is precision-trimmed to its final dimensions, then sanded through multiple grits to a smooth, uniform surface. Every component undergoes a rigorous inspection for dimensional accuracy, surface defects, and structural soundness to meet our strict quality standards.
